Obituary for Jeanette Gay Campbell

Jeanette Gay Campbell, 80, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Francis A. Gay and Mildred Simpkins Gay; and was predeceased by her brother, Thomas A. Gay. Jeanette was an active member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her loyalty to friends, her desire to share her love of baking through baked gifts for others and her passion for animals. Most of all, Jeanette will be remembered for being completely devoted to her family.

Survivors include her children, Gay Minchew Thompson and husband Greg; Michael Minchew; grandchildren, Aliyah and Chase Thompson; nieces, Mellissa Gill and husband Rick and Holly Gay and husband Roy; a nephew, Ashland Thomas; a great-niece, Riley; great-nephews, Kenneth and Brandon; in-laws, David and Gloria Thompson; her best friend, Barbie Wilder, and Barbie’s children, Robyn, Kelle and Brandon, as well as her beloved K-9 companion, Jasper.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 at Great Bridge United Methodist Church, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a wildlife charity of choice.
