CHESAPEAKE

Mr. Joseph F. Vaughan, Jr., age 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born January 19, 1945, in Portsmouth, Virginia to Joseph Sr. and Jocelyn Vaughan. He served his country in the U. S. Army, the National Guard, and retired as a First Sergeant from the Chesapeake Police Department, after serving for 26 years. Joe was a dedicated, loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Nancy B. Vaughan; his daughters, Deborah Flinn of Virginia Beach, and Donna Temple of the Isle of Palms, SC; his granddaughter, Kaileigh Dilks of the Isle of Palms, SC, and his sister, Jocelyn Anne Matthews of Suffolk.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or the NRA (National Rifle Association) as Joe would have wished.
