Marion Mae Mathias, 81, of the 3100 block of Benefit Road passed away, Monday, January 21, 2013 in her home, surrounded by family.

Born in Norfolk County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. Spence, Sr. and Ruth Waller Spence and was predeceased by her grandson, Glenn Temple. Mrs. Mathias was a long time member of Lake Drummond Baptist Church, where she was a past president and member of the J.R. Williams & Lynch Bible Class and the Women’s Ministry Union. She was also a member of the Lake Drummond Homemakers Club and was the 1974 Mother of the Year in the Wallaceton Ruritan Club.

Survivors include her husband, John W. “Dick” Mathias; children, William R. Mathias and wife Beth, Donald R. Mathias and wife Mim, Sharon K. Nipper and Karen F. Temple and husband Clifton; foster children, Glenwood P. Bateman and Curtis A. Everett; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 6 sisters.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Lake Drummond Baptist Church. Pastor William G. “Buddy” Hoggard, II will officiate. The interment will be private in the church cemetery. A reception will follow the service in Kello building. Friends are invited to view and pay final respects one hour prior to the service at the church.
