Tillie Birchett Parr, 93, of the 400 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, went to be with the Lord Monday, January 21, 2013.
Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late George Wallace Birchett and Tillie Zaruba Birchett. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Minter Parr and son, Marvin Eugene Parr. Mrs. Parr was a supportive military wife and moved with her husband and children to various stations in the United States and Europe. She was a member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church. She was the Regional Secretary for the Virginia State Health Department. After retirement, she and her husband traveled the United States in their R.V. Following the death of her husband, she served her community in various organizations, most recently Meals On Wheels. She was also a loyal supporter of the Tidewater Winds.
Survivors include her children, James Wallace Parr and wife Janice, Dinah Parr Baker and husband Allan; grandchildren, Jeffrey Parr, Brian Baker and Allison Wyant as well as nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2013 at Great Bridge United Methodist Church. Rev. Danny Kesner will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A private interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
