CHESAPEAKE, VA

William D. “Billy” Peterson, 50, of Suffolk and formerly of Chesapeake, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012.

Born in Wilmington, NC he was the son of Betty Peterson and the late Lorenzo “Pete” Peterson. Billy was a 1979 graduate of Great Bridge High School and later graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Northrop Grumman for the last 16 years. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love of music, cooking, family and the beach.

Including his mother, Billy is survived by his wife of 12 years, Annette Peterson; siblings, Terry Lowry and husband Alan, Mark Peterson and wife Christina, Erika “Susy” Manley and husband Leif; two nieces; four nephews and three grandnieces.

Billy’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Pastor Ernie Myers will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

The viewing will begin on Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
