CHESAPEAKE, VA

Barbara Ellen LaBelle, 74, of the 1200 block of Priscilla Lane, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

Born in Hutchinson, KS, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Justina Schroeder and was predeceased by four sisters and a brother. Barbara was a Financial Analyst with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Atlantic Division, Department of the Navy, where she retired in 2002 after more than 30 years of service. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, puzzles, games and reading.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, William M. LaBelle; three sons, William M., Jr., Brian A. and Randal D.; a daughter, Terri L. LaBelle; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Gates of Manhattan, KS; a brother, Wallace Schroeder and a brother-in-law, Richard Saffle, both of Hutchinson, KS as well as a large extended family.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. Rev. Charles L. Moseley will officiate.

The viewing will begin on Monday with the family receiving friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake.
