Kathlyn N. Dearing, 92, formerly of Chesapeake, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, February 16, 2012.
Born in Pinebluff, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late D. L. and Mary Clark Nicholson. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Rev. John T. Dearing; her son, James B. Dearing; sisters, Maybell Baker and Virgie Givens and a brother, D. L. Nicholson. Mrs. Dearing will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister. She was the epitome of a Pastor’s wife, serving Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, Indian River Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Bay St. Louis, MS and Bethel Baptist Church, where they retired.
Survivors include a son, John David Dearing and wife Sharon; two daughters, Mary Kathlyn Fombell and husband Rod and Susan Elizabeth Music; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Louise Faucett of Little Rock, AR.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory. Rev. Charles L. Moseley and Dr. William Langford will officiate. The interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon’s International or to Union Mission Ministries, Norfolk.
